My art is mainly aesthetic. I sometimes attempt to invoke an emotion with my work, but rarely. Most of my art is designed to be abstract, but make people see different things in it. generally, one person will see something different in my art than another.
My process usually starts with me building my own surface. I do this because it forces me to put time into the work before I have even started painting or drawing, to encourage me to finish every work. Once my surface is built and primed, If I'm painting, I start mixing a color. once I have one color I like, I start mixing other colors that go with it. I don't use a color wheel, I just rely on my own eye to discern what colors look good together. I start with the base color, then I move on to the methods I'll use to add abstract subjects. I like to drip acrylics on the canvas, sometimes I spray colors on, It all really depends on what I'm attempting to depict. Currently, I am exploring work with fiber, by weaving canvas together on a stretcher. I want to try more non traditional methods on canvas. I plan to use oil pastel on canvas and maybe even try dying it. |
